Prishtina, October 12, 2011 - Anti-Corruption Agency with utmost dedication is monitoring the development of public procurement procedures by Kosovo institutions in order to meet successfully one of its duties - Prevention of Corruption.
In this sense, during one month the Agency has addressed six opinions (to five municipalities and one ministry) through which they were warned to improve deficiencies (violations) in procurement procedures in order to avoid possible potential misuse.
Law on Prevention of Conflict of Interest in the exercise of public function, or more accurately, Article 19 point 1.6 obliges the Anti-Corruption Agency to offer opinions and to take other legal measures to prevent conflicts of interest and corruption in general.
The Agency therefore encourages all institutions which were addressed with an official document that they take these opinions into account and make maximum efforts to improve their deficiencies in implementation of the Public Procurement Law. Furthermore, ACA is monitoring the undertaken steps in the procedures by these institutions and as soon as feedback is received from them within few days will present the public opinion.
The Agency also urges the other institutions which have a legal obligation to regulate the scope of procurement to seriously examine these issues and take legal measures to prevent possible misuse of public money.
