ANTICORRUPTION AGENCY DIRECTOR MR. PRETENI MET WITH ASSEMBLY SPEAKER MR. KRASNIQI

PRISHTINA, 3 March 2008 - Director of Anti-Corruption Agency Mr. Hasan Preteni submitted today (Monday) annual report for 2007 to the Speaker of Republic of Kosovo Assembly Mr. Krasniqi. Anti-Corruption Agency is responsible and reports to the Assembly for its work.
During this meeting, Speaker Krasniqi expressed his willingness and the willingness of Parliament to politically and financially support the Agency, the only specialized institution in Kosovo to fight corruption. After meeting with reporters Mr. Krasniqi said - "as the Anti-Corruption Agency is accountable to Parliament, the latter will do everything to support the Agency in order that corruption does not become an incurable wound to prevent economic development, but also other segments of life and work of citizens", said Krasniqi.
The relation between the Kosovo Assembly and Anti-Corruption Agency is mandatory, said in his statement Hasan Preteni, director of this agency, thus today I delivered the Report of the Agency for 2007. "At the same time I expressed the willingness to report on the segments of this Report and other issues that are of interest to report to Parliament at any time.
On the other hand, Anti-Corruption Agency has requested for this year the budget required to support the law, which it did not have two years ago. "Lack of required budget created to us many problems, which reflected negatively on our commitment, creating the gap, especially when it came to having officials. In this regard the provision of budget for this year is a very auspicious beginning and I expect this practice to go on", he said. Mr. Preteni also responded to numerous questions of journalists regarding which institutions are more involved in most of corruptive cases.
