PRISHTINA, 8 December 2008 - Anti-Corruption Agency in cooperation with the Association of Professional Journalists of Kosovo with the support of United Nations Development Programme UNDP on Tuesday (tomorrow) on 9 December 2008, in Prishtina, organizes marking the International Anti-Corruption Day.
Through this activity is aimed to reiterate all one-year efforts of the Kosovo society in preventing and combating corruption in Kosovo.
Director of Anti-Corruption Agency Mr. Hasan Preteni said that Kosovo is demonstrating its serious commitment to preventing and combating this phenomenon harmful to the development of Kosovo society.
"Throughout this year our efforts against corruption are orchestrated in several directions. There was issued a legal framework in line with the needs of Kosovo anti-corruption mechanisms. With the help of the OSCE some awareness campaigns were held in many parts of Kosovo, as well as with UNDP's assistance we held debates in Prishtina with different people of different profiles where we had an excellent result. The Agency has developed the national strategy against corruption and is now waiting for the approval by the Assembly. I think that the battle is more than in the first steps", he said.
Within this activity will be awarded rewards for all those journalists whose articles/best stories have been selected by the professional jury about the sacrifice of their noble work to promote transparency, prevention and reporting of corruption cases.
International Anti-Corruption Day is marked in all countries of the world where there is a rule of democracy.
